The Joy of a Good Audition: A Musical Theatre Audition Workshop

Musical Cafe, the SF Bay Area musical theatre development program of Play Cafe, is pleased to present The Joy of a Good Audition: A Musical Theatre Audition Workshop. This class is open to actors of all experience levels and all ages from 18 up.

Date/Time: Saturday August 5, 2017, 10 am-1pm
Location: Shotgun Studios, Studio B, 1201 University Avenue, Berkeley CA
Cost: $25/$15 for Play Cafe members

A three-hour master class on auditioning for musical theatre, the workshop is taught by three of the Bay Area’s best, brightest, and most experienced directors, actors/singers, and vocal coaches. Enrollment is limited, and Play Cafe members receive a discount on enrollment, plus all the other great Play Cafe perks. $25 for the class. Contact if you’re a Play Cafe member to obtain the discount code. Enrollees should bring sheet music for a ballad and an uptempo song that the student should have already memorized. Loretta Janca has worked nationally, internationally and throughout the Bay Area as an entertainment specialist (director, actor, vocalist, choreographer, and casting director) and is both an active member of Play Cafe and on the Steering Committee of Musical Cafe.

Scarlett Hepworth is a veteran music director, coach/accompanist and actor/singer with a few Best Actress awards to her credit, with 25 years’ experience as an inspiring vocal coach, a Master’s Degree in Composition, and 5 years’ work with composer Carlisle Floyd learning to write operas.

Jonathan Leavy (Equity since 1990) holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Colorado State University, acted and sang for 10+ in off-Broadway shows, theme parks, cruise ships, regional theaters, and tours, and recently directed “The Chain” for Musical Cafe.
